We recently held a tapas and wine evening for members, partners and guests.  Wines were supplied by the Wine Society and the White Swan produced a wide selection of tapas.  Everyone had a very enjoyable evening although there may have been a few fuzzy heads the next day!

We recently had the pleasure of visitors from our mother club, Eyemouth.  After an enjoyable meal we locked horns in a carpet bowls challenge with Eyemouth being easy winners.

Some Rotarians had an interesting and enjoyable afternoon at Eyemouth Marine.  Many thanks to George for his knowledgeable  and enthusiastic talk.

Rotarians were on hand on Sunday to sell raffle tickets at this year's Silver Sunday held at the Volunteer Hall.  The afternoon was well attended and the lunch supplied by The White Swan was second to none.  We were also musically entertained during the afternoon.  May Kinghorn and her team of volunteers pulled out all of the stops to make the afternoon one to remember.

Rotarian Patrick Dixon and wife Genny about to set off on another mission to transport used pick-ups to Ukraine to help the humanitarian effort there on behalf of Jeeps for Peace.  Bidding them farewell are Jeanna  Swan, Lord Lieutenant of Berwickshire, and fellow Rotarians Monty, John and Harry

Duns R.F.C. hosted another successful Mini-Rugby tournament on Sunday.  Rotarians were on hand to help co-ordinate the parking

Rotarians, partners and guests made the annual pilgrimage to North Berwick's Fringe by the Sea.  This year to see Clive Myrie.  After  a walk around everyone headed off to the Brig and Barrel in Belhaven for a spot of lunch.  A good day was had by all

The club held a very successful Strawberry Afternoon Tea at the home of Genny and Patrick Dixon.  Over £3,000 was raised for "Jeeps for Peace" and their operation to supply four wheel drive vehicles for Ukraine to aid the relief effort there,  In addition was raised for WaterAid.

This year's Duns Citizen of the Year is Grant Keenan.  Grant was nominated because of his tireless work both as a coach and Chair of Duns Junior Football Club.  Grant has been instrumental in keeping the club going over the ten plus years that he has been involved.

A well deserved  winner.  Congratulations Grant.

Duns Primary School P7 quiz team progressed to the regional stage but were unfortunately knocked out before the final

Duns Primary School P7 was the host and winner  of our inter-school quiz.  Other schools being Swinton, Chirnside, Greenlaw and Coldstream.  They will now go forward to the regional heat. Congratulations!

Rotary Club of Duns buys Shelterbox for Turkey/Syria

Each ShelterBox is a large, rugged, green plastic container that holds a 10-person tent and a range of other equipment. Typical box contents include:
Thermal blankets and insulated ground sheets
Waterproof ponchos and bin bags
A multi-fuel stove that can burn anything from diesel to old paint!
Cooking pans, utensils, bowls and mugs
Collapsible water containers and water purification tablets
A basic tool kit - hammer, axe, saw, pliers, hoe head, trenching shovel, rope etc
A small, children's pack containing drawing books, crayons, pens etc. However, a range of equipment is kept in stock. This allows ShelterBox to be flexible and adjust the contents of the box according to local conditions and what is most urgently needed.

Mike Carr from Viridor gave a fascinating talk to members about advances in treating landfill waste

Twelve Rotarians had a day out at "Fringe by the Sea" in North Berwick to watch Philip Contini and his Happy Band.  We stopped off in Belhaven for something to eat.

Message from Danny at Eat Sleep Ride

Dear all,

We are so happy to announce that we have been given funding from the Queen's Jubilee to support us in our move to our new environmentally centre community equestrian wellness hub.

Volunteering sessions will run from 11-1 and from 2-4. You are welcome to attend only one or both in a day, or let us know if you would like to attend for longer. Refreshments will be provided as well as a cover for expenses per family to cover your fuel and time. These sessions will run every Wednesday on the run up to our grand opening and Jubilee celebration (keep an eye out for another email letting you know about the plans for this!)

Please share this with friends, family and anyone else who you think might be interested, the more the merrier. This is a great chance to embed your ideas and input into what Eat Sleep Ride can become from the start.

After a very successful coffee morning  and bucket collection on Saturday in aid of Ukraine we raised a magnificent £761.30.
